When the Hummer was first introduced consumers fell in love with it at once despite its bulky design and the amount it needed to fill it up with gas. Now however consumers have a different point of view on it and are starting to forget the love they once had for it and are trying desperately to get rid of it. Airbags are an essential part of the car that helps to protect us and to keep us safe during an accident. Over the years the types of airbags that are used have evolved and are used to help everyone in the car.
Many vehicles are built with six or more airbags leaving no interior room for other inflatable supplemental restraints. Toyoda Gosei (it’s an offshoot of Toyota) is showing a prototype fitted with airbags designed to protect pedestrians–yes, those “innocent victims” outside the vehicle.

The first production version of the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 has been built and already shipped to a dealership in AZ. Only this first car is not for sale because it has already been sold. Craig Jackson – CEO of Barrett-Jackson – won the new car in an auction for $400,000. Now all he needs to do is pick it up.

The Los Angeles County lifeguards are being given a fleet of customized 4WD Ford Escape Hybrids. They are getting rid of the usual pickup trucks and have already delivered 10 out of the 45.
Changes made to the Escapes for lifeguard duty include the replacement of the center console with a radio rack and the removal of the 60% side of the 60/40 split rear seat. In its place is a storage unit for emergency equipment. The lifeguards’ Escapes are also fitted with heavy-duty rubber mats and are literally topped off with a custom roof rack.

This has been more noticeable over the past decade where we have seen many companies demand that suppliers cut their costs down 3-5% every year.
