GM To Close SUV Plants Earlier Then Expected
General Motors stated this week that they will be closing down their SUV plant located in Janesville, Wisconsin. The plant will be officially closed by the end of this year thanks to the poor sales of the one popular selling cars on the market.
The plant was used to produce the Chevy Suburban and the GMC Yukon and has 1,200 UAW employees working for them. GM’s original plans was to close the plant down in 2010 - but the market has deteriorated faster then what they had planned. They will also be closing down the SUV plant in Moraine, Ohio.
