Audi Will Be Producing Electric Car
For some time now we have heard rumors that Audi is working on producing an electric car. Many believe that the new project will be used on the A1 concept that they debuted during the Paris Motor Show. We have been waiting patiently for an answer and it looks like that time has finally come.
Audi board member Peter Schwarzenbauer stated that the electric car is on its way - but instead of being based on the A1 concept they will be modeling it after the Volkswagen up! Playform. They have plans for the new car to carry the Lupo badge when it enters into production.
The electric car will be equipped with a battery pack that will be mounted at the back of the Lupo’s platform. Right now we don’t know what the new car will be named or any of the specs.
We do know that BMW is going to be their biggest competition. This means that Audi will nee to do quite a bit of work to catch up to them. BMW has already started producing the electric version on the MINI Cooper.
